About our Founder, NJR
RoseCovered's Founder, Nikaéla Jacko Redd ("NJR"), is a proud wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who as a little girl always had a passion for fashion. She now resides in the Washington, D.C. metro area, but has previously called various places around the world home. Born and raised in Oakland, California, she takes pride in being an alumna of Holy Names High School. Her educational journey led her to UC Davis and Rutgers University School of Law. Despite being a self-taught designer, she supplemented her skills by taking fashion classes, including those at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as well as other institutions.
Beyond her creative pursuits, NJR is a published writer, avid traveler and a self-proclaimed foodie. Her philanthropic endeavors reflect her commitment to making a positive impact, as she dedicates her time to charitable and non-profit organizations focused on empowering women and families. Central to her vision is the belief that every woman deserves to exude confidence and beauty from within.
In 2018, NJR officially launched RoseCovered, an endeavor that manifested her lifelong ambition to provide clothing solutions for women often overlooked by the fashion industry. As a junior attorney, she experienced firsthand the limitations of available quality clothing options, especially for her hour glass shape body type. This experience, coupled with her dedication to inclusivity, led her to develop a patent pending design that empowers women to embrace their unique figures with confidence. This innovation extends beyond specific garments, as Nikaéla envisions integrating her transformative designs into all types of clothing.
